Risk/Logic is made of 20 panes of glass, each laser-etched with key entires from blogs about barebacking, seroconversion, the fetishization of HIV. It complicates and illuminates complexities around desire, danger, and morality that arose as HIV stopped being a death sentence, but remains an undeniable element of gay sexuality.
The choice of glass is intentional, chosen because it is both fragile and dangerous. Predictably, the piece was knocked over and broken during the opening reception for it’s first public show UNDETECTABLE produced by VisualAIDS. The piece was re-installed in its broken state for the duration of the show.
